Good Music Brighter Children
Music involves both left and right, front and back portions of the brain, which explains why people can learn and retain information more readility when it is set to music. Music strenghtens the auditory Cortex of the brain which is where more learning difficulties orginate. Studing a musicial instrument helps develop imagination, invention, creative thinking, communications, and teamwork. MRI imaging shows the planum temporale and the corpus callosum are larger in musicians than non musicians. (The planum temporale plays an important role in language and in early auditory processing) Children who study musical instruments or are involved in the arts do better at school.Sharlene Habermeyer
