Please join us for all or any of the topics that might be of interest to you. We do ask that you register by phone or e-mail with your name and phone number.  This ensures that everyone has comfortable seating and the speakers have prepared informational packages or free gifts for every-one in attendance.  Children are welcome!

All sessions are Fridays from 11:00-12:00 pm

May 9   Natural Medicine at Home

Naturopathic Dr. Kitty Shang returns to our Centre to provide information and support on your child’s health in the first few years. Topics such as the immunization process and how to put together a medicine chest to meet your family's basic wellness needs will be discussed. Learn what choices are available to you regarding traditional and alternative preventative and curative remedies for every day cold symptoms such as fever, colds and flu’s, ear infections, allergy and more.

 

May 23   How to choose child care wisely?

Kelly Hurri,  ECE from York Professional Care and Education returns to the Centre and presents Do you Have to return to work?  As you unsure how child care in Ontario works, who regulates it and what a good program looks like.  Join us to have your questions answered and receive a useful checklist to aid you in your search.

 

May 30    Bring Children & Pets Together

Even the most gentle of pets can be frightened by young children. Whether you are introducing a new baby into the home with a pet, or acquiring a pet for the family, there are some things you need to consider. Join Dr. Jennifer Murray from the Davis Drive Animal Clinic for this interesting talk on pets and children in the home.

 

June 6   Gentle Parenting

When the time comes to provide guidance or limits for this incredibly important being, you may find yourself rethinking old concepts of what discipline and parenting are all about. Your baby may have taught you that when it comes to nourishment, sleep, and being held, you can trust his cues and your own inner voice above the many public voices telling you what you "should" be doing. Denise Martin a La Leche League leader in our community will facilitating this discussion.

Did you know crawling is linked to proper growth & development for a child? Join Dr. Danielle Warner, family chiropractor, for an in depth discussion of the importance of tummy time, sensory integration on growth and development of the child, playtime exercises to enhance learning
